Wedding Halls Decorations

As for Tamil tradition, it is necessary to decorate the Wedding stage area with Color and Traditional Tamil items such as Mango tree leaves, Fresh coconut leaves, Banana tree and so on. Banana Trees with bananas are used to decorate the Wedding halls. The entrance of the wedding’s Venue, whether Bride's home, A Hindu Temple, Wedding Hall or hotel must be decorated. There must be a pair of banana tree with yellow color bananas, tied on both sides at the entrance. Fit two king coconut at the edge of the banana stems. Banana tree must be tightened by ropes at 5 places securely. Never at 3 places .the banana tree to be "Kathali" or any other variety, but never use "Saambal" or "Monthan" bananas for weddings. The Types of bananas used in the wedding functions can be "Kathali valai" ,"Kappal valai",Etharai valai, Aanai valai,Kolumbuk kathali,Pandi valai,Sev valai,Seenik kathali,Maruththuva valai.

Beetle nut tree ("Kamugu") also cane be tied along with the banana tree if available.

Coconut trees fresh leaf decoration ("Kuruth tholaith Thoranam").

This is also a decoration done by the Tamils from the ancient times. There are two types of hanging. First type is called as "Thoranam". The other is called as "Makara Thoranam".The "Thoranam" is made with single leave. In 5 places the slash cuts are made starting from the tiny end, then the leaf is opened and the both side's cut are locked in by folding them, then they are hanged on a tiny rope.

The "Makara Thoranam" is done with 5 leaves, but is locked in a way to hold the five leaves together.

Mango leaves are hanged next to each "thoranam' as the leave is looking forward in front of the rope, the harder part come over the rope and locked for hanging.

Flower "Charam" In a tiny thread Jasmine flowers are knoted with a gap of one inch (called as "Poochcharam") and hanged along with "Thoranam" and "Mavilai"

Inside the wedding hall can be decorated with fresh flowers, artificial flowers, and whatever is colorful and eye-catching for the enjoyment of the wedding day.
